STAPLEFORD TOWN FC

The gestation of Stapleford Town Football Club commenced at the turn of the millennium with the formation of Stapleford Villa Football Club in 2002.

The vision at the heart of Stapleford Villa’s football activities was the desire to provide and expand football facilities for youth and local residents of all ages with “Hickings Lane”, the clubs home ground, supplying a base where players’ love for the game of football could be rekindled, developed and expanded.

After early successes the club declined due to a lack of professional management resources.

In 2012 a core group consisting of some members of the previous management team and a group of supporters from the community in Stapleford, including parents, young people, local businesses and football enthusiasts, came together to relaunch the Club now known as Stapleford Town FC.

The management team of the relaunched Stapleford Town FC were determined that the Club be a grassroots community based club with an emphasis on providing a safe football facility that was welcoming to all; regardless of age, ability, personal or financial background meeting the criteria set out by the Football Association’s concept of the beautiful game “for anyone, anytime, anywhere”. In other words: For All.

From the very beginning the Club has recognised that to be a true community based club our activities would require a wide remit and so has developed not just the game of football but also the social aspects of the Club drawing in the wider community through events such as community fun days, participation in national events (such as RBL Poppy Appeal) and local events such as The “Hemlock Happening,”

Since our inception in 2013 we have expanded our activities building from three to thirty two teams with 450 registered players.

To support the expansion of the Club and develop the potential of the players there are 50 FA registered coaches of which 31 are fully qualified and 12 are awaiting qualification through the Football Association Coaching scheme (currently at playmaker status).

In 2016 the Club successfully applied to Broxtowe Borough Council for a Preferential User Agreement for football on the site at Hickings Lane Recreation Ground. Preferential User status provides the Club with priority access to the football facilities throughout the football season.

Also In 2016, a decision was made to form our senior section and after discussions with Ryan Stark and Matt Moody, a team was entered for the 2017/18 season. Using their extensive knowledge of local football and the wealth of players who, although lived in Stapleford, played football outside of the town a team was formed. We also recruited rookie manager Adam ‘Lefty’ Campbell and managed to successfully navigate our way to an NSL Div 1 title and Notts Junior Cup double in the first season. The following year we completed an astonishing back to back championship win lifting the Premier League at the first attempt.

The defence of the league title was curtailed by the Global Covid Pandemic and as restrictions eased the club regrouped and with a new management team of Tristram Whitman, Danny Arnold and Jordan Hunter who look to take the club forward, A healthy 2nd place finish in the 21/22 season demonstrated the club is both still competitive and also still developing players to come through, taking the club a step further in 22/23 winning the league title and county cup to cap a memorable season.

   After approx 1.5 miles at the roundabout.
3. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto B6003 Toton Lane
   Follow Toton Lane for about 1 mile.
4. Continue straight onto Church Street
   At the traffic lights by Larrys, continue straight.
5. At the mini-roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Hickings Lane
6. Hickings Lane Recreation Ground will be on your right-hand side.
